Components of a Business IT Infrastructure | Servers, Networks, Storage

- Routers | Routers connect networks of your infrastructure, enabling systems to communicate (Networks connecting to Networks)

- Switches | switches connect systems within a network.

- Patch panels / cross connects

- Firewalls (pfSense, Cisco ASA, Forefront TMG) | Firewalls sit between a router and application servers to provide access control.

- Load balances (HA Proxy, F5's) | Use load balancers to distribute overall load on your Web or application servers, or to distribute demand according to the kind of task to be performed.

- Servers, hosts (Rack, Blade Servers) - Multiple brands Dell PowerEdge, Cisco UCS. Used for hosting hypervisor (VMware, Citrix)

- Storage (SAN, NAS, Tape) - Large storage arrays worth of disks)

- HBA switches (similar to network switches, but used for storage. ie Fibre Channel between Fibre Channel HBA's on Server to Fibre Switches.

- Pabx - Telephony

- DNS, DHCP, WSUS
